Gravity

There are times that we’ve experienced,
when everything goes dark and cold,
and we are often left unbalanced,
as if we’ve suddenly grown old.
These moments are like a dead end,
the sound of a door slammed shut,
a bad sharp turn at a road bend,
or a knife pierced into the gut.
So, it comes as no surprise,
how terrible rejection feels,
where a little part of us dies,
and never fully heals.
But that’s not how it should be,
you must leave it all behind,
if only I could make you see,
the many opportunities for you to find.
Therefore, if this should happen,
where you’re left without any hope,
make yourself imagine,
the end of a tethered rope.
It’s a long climb up again,
but it’s not like you’re alone,
your loved ones won’t leave you
like a sailor in the sea; thrown.
Once you’re back on a peak,
and people below seem so small,
I pray you find what you seek,
and that you’ll always stand tall.
And should anyone ask
why at first you were down there,
just give them a little smile,
say “Gravity just doesn’t play fair!”
